Be The Change Day – Convention 2017
Exhilarating, Exhausting, Transformation, Blessed, Amazing. These are just a few of the words that spring to mind when reflecting on Be The Change day at the Dallas Can Academy and the Wee Can Academy.
Partnering with the amazing Amy Searle Chandler and My Story Matters, the Be The Change Foundation organized a team of over 205 volunteers to complete two separate projects at the Dallas Can Academy and the Wee Can Academy. Volunteers started arriving at 11:00 a.m. and immediately started transforming the landscape of the campus grounds. Weeds were pulled, mulch was spread, flowers and trees were planted, and hopscotch games were painted. This was a transformation for not only the students, but the entire community to enjoy the beautification that took place on campus.
While all that was happening outside, additional volunteers took on the task of creating “My Story Matters” story books for the 135 children who attend the Dallas Can Academy or the Wee Can Academy. They were able to reflect, recount, record and reframe their story. Each child will receive their very own custom HeritageMakers story book with their own recollections and photos.
Actress, author and health advocate Marilu Henner, former NBA stars Mike Glenn and Theo Ratliff (and his daughter) joined the 205 Youngevity volunteers making a difference in the lives of the students and staff at the Dallas Can Academy and the Wee Can Academy.
